Removing and Installing Steering Column SwitchesFig. 7-3 is an exploded view of the steering wheel and steering column switches. The turn signal switch and the wind-shield wiper and washer switch are fastened to the top of the steering column housing by three screws. They can be replaced individually if necessary, but individual parts for repairing the switches are not available.

The ignition switch and lock cylinder also mount to the steering column housing, which in turn clamps to the steering column tube. There is no provision for adjusting the height of the steering wheel or the switches on the steering column. To remove:
Installation is the reverse of removal. Use a new lock washer on the steering column. Torque the socket-head steering column housing clamping bolt to 10 Nm (87 in. lb.). Avoid over-tightening the three switch mounting screws. |
