Testing Wiper/Washer SwitchThe switch receives power from the ignition switch and the intermittent relay, and routes it depending on the position of the lever. To reach the switch, remove the steering-column cover by removing the Phillips-head screws. The switch terminals are identified earlier in Fig. 8-1 or Fig. 8-2.

Use an ohmmeter to test the switch by making continuity checks across the terminals depending on switch position. For example, at OFF position, there should be continuity across terminals 53 and 53e. Use the wiring diagrams to identify the terminals to be checked at each switch position. If the switch fails any continuity tests, it is faulty and should be replaced as described in SUSPENSION AND STEERING. |
