Testing Rear Wiper Motor

The rear wiper motor has two voltage inputs. One comes directly from the load reduction relay, and one is from the rear wiper relay. For electrical wiring information pertaining to a specific model, refer to the current flow diagrams at the end of this section.

Disconnect the harness connector from the motor and check for voltage. With the ignition on, there should be voltage coming from the load reduction relay. With the rear wiper switch activated, there should be voltage from the relay. Also check for continuity to ground at the third (ground) terminal. If voltage is reaching the connector as described and the motor still fails to run, then the motor is faulty and should be replaced. See 8.2 Windshield Wiper Motor and Linkage.
