Replacing Starter Bushing \(manual transmission only\)Jamming of the starter is usually a sign of a bad starter bushing. A faulty bushing that is not replaced with the starter will cause the starter bearings to quickly fail. The starter bushing is replaceable with the transmission installed and the starter removed. Fig. 6-2 shows the bushing being removed from the bellhousing. To install the bushing, drive the new bushing into the bellhousing until it is firmly seated.
